The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged the
ministry of food,agriculture & livestock (MINFAL) to install high
technology solutions for grain storage and drying.

President Unisame Zulfikar Thaver said  agricultural storage  systems are
urgently needed as due to climactic changes much damaged is caused to
crops due to unexpected rains.

He said  many companies are manufacturing corrugated galvanized grain
storage silos with capacities of 3 to 16000 metric tons and complete
line of silos accessories to complete a grain handling, drying and
storage project are available but the SME farmers are lacking finance
to install the systems and suffering every year incurring huge losses.
He urged MINFAL to promote the installation of systems for grain
storage, conditioning and handling for rice, corn, wheat and barley
under leasing finance to enable the SME farmers to buy the systems on
pay as you earn schemes and save themselves from losses due to
unfavourable weather conditions.
